What we measured
Width anchor 114 cm → 42.2 px/mm; height gives 42.2 px/mm, a 0.1 % difference.
The crop takes the outermost fibre on all four sides; where the edge dips, a sliver of the museum’s grey photography ground stays in and is not retouched. Nothing is trimmed inward and nothing is retouched or colour-corrected.
What we are allowed to sell
The work. Made in the United States between 1875 and 1900 by an unrecorded maker: public domain in every market we ship to.
The photograph. The Art Institute of Chicago marks this object as public domain (API is_public_domain = true, checked 30 September 2026) and publishes images of public-domain works under Creative Commons Zero. A pieced textile has relief, so our clearance rests on the museum’s CC0 declaration.
What we do not claim. A giclée reproduction printed with pigment inks from a photograph of the quilt. It is not a textile and is not sold as one. The museum is named as our source, not as a partner, and does not endorse this print.
