Two hands against dark cloth. The upper one draws a fold of the fabric together, a thimble on its middle finger; the lower one opens below it, the fingers curled as if about to take the next stitch. They belong to Georgia O'Keeffe, and Stieglitz made this palladium print in 1919, early in the portrait of her he kept adding to until 1937 — some five hundred photographs in all. He held that her hands said as much about her as her face.

What this is. A giclée reproduction of a palladium print, made with pigment inks from the Art Institute of Chicago's own open-access photograph. It is not an original photograph and is not sold as one.

The print
Giclée on 200 gsm FSC-certified fine art paper, twelve pigment inks. White border, optical centre. The warm brown of the palladium is kept, not corrected. Unframed. Shipped rolled in a tube.
